Vintage 1970s Nishijin Kinran Silk Obi with Flowing Floral Motif

This refined Nishijin silk obi, dating from the early 1970s, is woven in the luxurious kinran (brocade) technique, characterized by richly colored silk threads and subtle metallic accents.

The design features a graceful flowing stream motif, across which seasonal flowers—chrysanthemum, paulownia, and other classical motifs—are arranged in a harmonious composition. The softly shimmering ground enhances the sculptural quality of the woven patterns, creating depth and movement.

Unlike printed textiles, this piece is entirely created through weaving, where each motif is constructed thread by thread. It reflects the high level of craftsmanship achieved in Kyoto’s Nishijin weaving tradition during a period when technical mastery and refined modern aesthetics reached a remarkable balance.

Obi en soie kinran de Nishijin, années 1970, à motif floral ondoyant

Ce somptueux obi en soie de Nishijin, datant du début des années 1970, est réalisé selon la technique traditionnelle du kinran (brocart), caractérisée par l’emploi de fils de soie richement colorés et de légers accents métalliques.

Le motif représente un cours d’eau fluide traversant la surface, orné de fleurs de saison telles que le chrysanthème et le paulownia, disposées dans une composition harmonieuse. Le fond subtilement irisé met en valeur le relief des motifs tissés, créant profondeur et mouvement.

Contrairement aux textiles imprimés, cette œuvre est entièrement tissée, chaque motif étant formé fil par fil. Elle témoigne du très haut niveau de savoir-faire de la tradition de Nishijin à Kyoto, à une époque où la maîtrise technique et une esthétique moderne raffinée atteignaient un équilibre remarquable.

1970年代初頭 西陣織 錦織帯 流水に花文様

1970年代初頭の西陣織による錦織帯です。多彩な絹糸と控えめな金糸を用いた錦織（きんらん）技法により、格調高い華やかさが表現されています。

意匠は、ゆるやかに流れる流水文の上に、菊や桐をはじめとする四季の花々が調和よく配され、優雅で奥行きのある構成となっています。地のほのかな光沢が、織りによる立体感をより一層引き立てています。

本作は染めではなく、すべて織りによって文様が表現されたものであり、一つ一つの模様が糸の組み合わせで構成されています。西陣の伝統において、技術と洗練された美意識が高い水準で調和した時代を象徴する作品です
