Hirayuki Tsumugi - Important Intangible Cultural Property - Purple Checkered Pattern　1960's

This Hirayuki tsumugi features a modern checkered pattern woven in varying shades of purple. Yuki tsumugi is a traditional textile designated as an Important Intangible Cultural Property of Japan. Because the threads are spun by hand, one by one, from raw silk, and woven using traditional techniques, it requires a great deal of time and advanced skills. This handcrafted work contributes to the rarity and high value of Yuki tsumugi. The fabric, made from threads spun from raw silk, is light, soft, and warm, and becomes more comfortable with each wear. Although it is a very expensive textile, Yuki tsumugi is considered "the finest everyday wear," a stylish garment for daily life.
